Last night I gave a talk on how to build a front-end asset pipeline with gulp. It was pretty sweet. If you missed it, here is the code XOR slides at no additional cost to you:
In summary: if you do any sort of front-end work and ARE NOT using open-source tools to make your life easier, then I feel so much pitty for you. Gulp is just one task manager, Grunt being the obvious other, that very quickly enables you to get automated testing, obfuscation, linting, image compression, and so much more for ABSOLUTELY NO ADDITIONAL COST! And you get much more time back not having to do all of this manually, that you can focus on doing actual work instead of "button-pressing."
So, that's about it. Use gulp.
